TGIF Update: How Did I Live Without These 2 Supplements?

Friday, June 25, 2010 by Courtney K

About a month ago, I wrote about a fundraiser bike ride I’m participating in this summer. With just over a month to go, I wanted to share with you the natural health vitamins and supplements I’ve found to be useful.

At the end of May, Swanson Health Products sponsored the Health & Fitness Expo at the 2010 Fargo Marathon. It was our third year doing so, and we’ve become known for handing out tons of great samples to runners and their supporters. While I was helping get our booth set up, I unpacked box after box after box of something called Wobenzym’N. There was so much of it, it was almost comical. I didn’t know anything about the product, but after getting a lot of really positive comments on it from some of the runners, I started looking into it.

Wobenzym'N
is a blend of enzymes for natural anti-inflammatory support and WOW does it work. After one of my longer training rides, my knees were so sore I moved (and complained) like my 97-year-old grandma. After that, I made a few adjustments to my bike, but they didn’t help as much as I’d hoped. In preparation for the next long ride, I took Wobenzym’N for a few days prior. I couldn’t believe how good my knees felt afterward! I could crouch, kneel, go up and down stairs without any of the clicking, creaking or groaning I’d felt the last time. I’ll be sure to have some of this on hand for the big ride.

I’m also taking a joint health supplement: Swanson Ultra Glucosamine, Chondroitin & MSM with Hyal-Joint. While the name isn’t quite as catchy as Wobenzym’N, it definitely seems to be helping. Glucosamine, Chondroitin, and MSM are fairly well known, but Hyal-Joint (dehydrated hyaluronic acid serum) was new to me. While the other ingredients support healthy cartilage, hyaluronic acid is intended to nourish the synovial fluid of the joints, which lubricates the cartilage.

You can read even more about these and other supplements in our article on joint health. In the meantime, wish me luck!
