Natural Health Tips

Hi, I'm Anthony.

I started working for Swanson Health Products as a 24-year-old in the summer of 2007. Growing up, I didn't pay attention to my health other than taking a few sporadic vitamins and occasionally glancing at some food labels. When I applied for a job with Swanson, the only thing I knew about the company was that you could buy vitamins and supplements from them.

After working at Swanson for a few years, I've come to realize how important my health is and how much control I have in maintaining my health. I have made many changes to my daily routines, focusing on improving my diet, incorporating some dietary supplements and moving towards natural products in my home. Here are some my favorite Swanson products:

I've learned a lot about natural health over the last few years and I will continue to learn a lot more in the years ahead. On this blog, I hope to share what I learn with you and hope you will comment on some posts and help me learn even more.

Raw Food Salad and Raw Salad Dressing Recipe

Friday, April 1, 2011 by Anthony N.
I ate a gigantic salad for lunch almost everyday during my raw food challenge. It was an easy way to incorporate a ton of vegetables and even some fruits into my meal, and also was something that was quick and easy to make and bring to work. Making my own raw salad dressing was the most interesting part.

I tried to cram as many ingredients as I could into these salads and they typically contained these ingredients.
  • Spinach
  • Romaine lettuce
  • Herbs and Greens Mix
  • Asparagus (first time I have ever ate...

Raw Food Diet: What's for Dinner?

Thursday, March 31, 2011 by Anthony N.
During my week on the raw food diet, I really enjoyed my smoothies for breakfast as well as my salads for lunch. The same thing can't be said for my dinners. At dinner, I'm used to eating a large, warm meal. I live in Minnesota. It's freezing outside, and our 'comfort foods' are all warm. During raw food week, nothing was warm.

The first dinner of the week was Zucchini Noodles with Pesto. We made a typical pesto sauce with basil, organic olive oil and pine nuts. Zucchini noodles are made by using...Read More »

Raw Food Breakfast Smoothie Recipe

Wednesday, March 30, 2011 by Anthony N.
During my week on the raw food diet, breakfast was definitely my favorite meal of the day. Before the raw food diet, I would either skip breakfast or I would simply eat one piece of toast with organic peanut butter. I would also have a cup of coffee. During my week raw, I turned my attention to raw smoothies.

The first step in my one week raw food diet challenge was to get prepared. I knew I was going to need a lot of motivation and support to get through a whole week entirely raw. These are the steps I took to before starting the diet.

My Child Has a Fever! What Should I Do?

Thursday, March 3, 2011 by Anthony N.
A recent report by The American Academy of Pediatrics offers some new guidelines on how to treat a child who is running a fever. Many parents quickly turn to ibuprofen or acetaminophen to reduce the child's body temperature, but that isn't always the best route to go. The report explains that maintaining the child's temperature close to "normal" should not be the main concern and instead, "the primary goal of treating the febrile child should be to improve the child's overall comfort."
