Daily Health Tips update for August 6:
Do you suffer from sleep apnea or live with someone who does? It’s a scary condition that not only affects your health, but it can make it almost impossible to sleep in the same room with your significant other. A six-month study in the European Respiratory Journal offers some hope. Researchers had 40 obese sleep apnea suffers eat a Mediterranean diet or one that they referred to as “eating prudently.” The group that ate fish, olive oil, whole grains and fresh fruit and vegetables common in the Mediterranean diet lost much more weight, therefore reducing their sleep apnea symptoms. One other factor: both groups also increased physical activity during the six-month study.
