The Worst Fast Food Meals

Daily Health Tips update for June 14:

Face it guys, a lot of us don’t always make the best food choices when it comes to on-the-go eating. We get it, you’re busy, but this doesn’t mean you have to suffer at the hands of bad nutrition. While we don’t endorse eating fast food on a regular basis (or ever, if you can avoid it), here are some of the top offenders when it comes to packing on the pounds. Avoid them at all costs.

  • Domino’s Chicken Carbonara Breadbowl Pasta

This super wad of dough, cheese, noodles and cream packs a whopping 1480 calories, 56 g of fat and 2200 mg of sodium. Instead, try a medium pizza with grilled chicken, green peppers and shredded Parmesan. Three slices of that will give your taste buds a similar thrill and save you about 900 calories.

  • McDonald’s Big Breakfast

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but it shouldn’t account for over two-thirds of your caloric intake. This mammoth meal of biscuits, hotcakes, sausage and syrup has nearly 1400 calories, 64.5 g of fat 2335 mg of sodium and 49 g of sugar. Not exactly a great way to wake up. An Egg McMuffin with hash browns will save you 1000 calories, 42 g of fat and knocks the sodium down to 1120 mg.

  • Burger King Triple Whopper

It’s true. Guys like burgers, so if you want to round this whopper of a meal out with a large fries and Coke you’re looking at 2100 calories, 104 g of fat and a staggering 2270 mg of sodium. If you ate this meal even just once a week, you’d stand to gain more than 30 pounds over the next year. To feed your burger craving, opt for a Whopper Jr. with no mayo and a 6-piece Chicken Fries. The calories drop to 510, with only a quarter of the fat at 25 grams and a sodium content of 1270 mg.

  • Dairy Queen Chicken Strip Basket

This little nugget served with fries, country gravy and Texas Toast breaks the sodium bank with an astonishing 3650 mg of sodium, and 57 g of fat and 1370 calories. This tiny meal is the equivalent of almost four small Butterfinger Blizzards! Go for a DQ Original Cheeseburger with a side salad and fat free Italian dressing to lower your calories to 440, 18 g of fat and 1300 mg of sodium.
