STOP! It’s World No Tobacco Day

Daily Health Tips update for May 31:

If you or someone you love wants to quit smoking, but is worried about the side effects of prescription cessation products, consider trying homeopathic smoking cessation products  on the market or alternative treatments such as acupuncture or hypnosis. You may also want to try vitamin and health supplements for added support. It’s not proven that vitamin supplements will directly assist with smoking cessation; however, some of the overall health benefits related to taking supplements may improve your chances for successfully quitting.

The top three vitamins you should check out are:
  • Multivitamins to help with nutritional recovery and regaining your energy and good health.
  • Vitamin B complex or B3 supplements which some reports say help curb nicotine cravings and irritability.
  • Niacin which is chemically similar to nicotine. There is speculation that niacin eases nicotine addiction because it attaches to the niacin receptor sites in the brain (which are taken up by nicotine in smokers).
As with any new vitamin regimen, be sure to check with your healthcare provider to determine appropriate doses.
