Want Naturally Beautiful Nail Colors? Check the Label for These Chemicals

Daily Health Tips update for September 6:

Cosmetics can be full of chemicals and harmful ingredients. One of the biggest culprits is nail polish. You don’t even have to read the list of ingredients to know that it’s made from some not-so-good stuff. Just open the bottle and take a whiff and your nose will tell you that something about it stinks.

The best thing to do is look for nail polish that doesn’t contain the “toxic trio.” These three ingredients are toluene, dibutyl phthalate (DBP) and formaldehyde. They have been linked to serious health problems. Another benefit of using nail polishes without these? No stinky fumes! It’s hard to find nail polishes that are completely chemical free, but make sure the ones you are using are free of the “toxic trio,” like the colorful options available from Honeybee Gardens. Also, don’t be afraid to take your choice nail polish to the salon the next time you’re in for a mani/pedi.
