Daily Health Tips update for September 15:
It’s September. School is back in session, college football is on TV and that means dry skin season is rapidly approaching. How can you fight off the dry, itchy, flaky skin that cooler weather and indoor heaters perpetuate? It’s easy: use all natural solutions from fresh herbs and fruit! Nut oils, like almond or walnut, help moisturize skin and skincare products made from autumn fruits help exfoliate and energize skin. In fact, pulpy fruit like persimmons pamper sensitive facial skin for all skin types. Here’s how to make an easy, all-natural facial mask from The Herb Quarterly:
Herb & Persimmon Facial Mask
½ fresh, ripe persimmon including the peel
1 teaspoon fresh chopped parsley leaves
2 teaspoons fresh chopped rose petals
To prepare: Mash the persimmon until smooth. Stir in parsley and rose petals. For extra dry skin, add one teaspoon of almond oil.
To use: Spread mixture on face and neck. Let sit for 10 to 15 minutes, then wash off with warm water.
Note: If you’re unable to find persimmons in your area, you can substitute figs.
