An Old Time Trick for Joint Pain

Daily Health Tips update for August 12:

Experts know all about glucosamine, chondroitin, hyaluronic acid and MSM for joint pain, but here’s an old time remedy experts can’t explain: Gin Raisins.  This involves soaking golden Thompson raisins in a container and covering them with gin. Leave an inch of liquid above the raisins, cover with a paper towel (an air-permeable covering allows most of the alcohol in the gin to evaporate) and let sit for two weeks.  After that timeframe, cover with a real lid and consume up to 10 a day. It could be the antioxidants in grapes or that fact that gin contains juniper, an herb that may help reduce inflammation. Nobody knows why or how this works for sure!

Have you ever heard of gin raisins? What old time remedies have you heard of?
