Homemade Spa Treatments Make for a SPA-tacular Party!

My daughter wanted a spa themed party to celebrate her 9th birthday.  I began searching online for activities that we could do, but was disappointed when a lot of the websites suggested going to dollar stores to buy cheap products.  The vast majority of the dollar stores' products contain chemicals, dyes and synthetic ingredients. With some research and creativity, I came up with natural health supplies from Swanson Health Products.

Bath Salts:  We started off the party by making homemade bath salts.  We mixed 1/2 cup of Himalayan Crystal Salt with 2 drops of essential oil (Peppermint, Lavender, or Lemon).  The girls took home their salt mixture in freezer bags with instructions to add to their next bath.

Facials: The Good For You Girls Complete Skin Care Kit includes a gel cleanser, toner, and moisturizer.  It was perfect for the party.  The girls washed their faces using the cleanser and toner.  Next, I made a homemade facial recipe using equal parts of pureed cucumber (seeds removed) and plain yogurt.  They put on shower caps to hold their hair back, applied the cucumber-yogurt mask, and put cold cucumber slices on their eyes.  After they washed off the dried masks, they applied the moisturizer.  They loved the facials and were very impressed with the softness of their skin.

Pedicures:  The girls soaked their feet in warm water with 2 Tablespoons of Himalayan Crystal Salt.  Then, they applied Kiss My Face Peppermint Foot Crème.  Finally, we applied their favorite nail polish color to their toes.

Manicures:  The Burt's Bees Hand Kit includes Shea Butter Crème, Almond Milk Hand Crème, and Lemon Butter Cuticle Crème.  The girls prepped their hands by applying the crèmes, and we finished by painting their fingernails.

The party was a blast, and the girls really enjoyed the products and activities.  When you’re nine, life doesn’t get much better than having peppermint feet, lemon cuticles, and neatly painted nails (on both your hands and feet)!  In fact, some of them even asked me where we purchased the items because they wanted to buy them.  The party also taught the girls skin health tips.  Some of them had no idea they had cuticles, or that they needed to take care of their cuticles as part of maintaining overall fingernail health.

Now, if only I could find some time to use up the rest of the party supplies on myself...
