Thursday, February 23, 2012 by Guest Bloggers

Fisol Fish OilOne of the most popular and highest-rated products at (with a 4.9 out of 5 rating), Nature’s Way Fisol Fish Oil and high-potency Nature’s Way Super Fisol Fish Oil are voted customer favorites.

Fisol is a superior blend of molecularly-distilled, sustainably sourced fish oil delivered using the Nature’s Way proprietary Targeted Release enteric-coating technology. This delivery system helps give you three times the absorption rate of other fish oil supplements with no fishy aftertaste or gastrointestinal discomfort. In fact, these are some of the highlights found in many Fisol customer reviews:

"The capsules are easy to swallow and, as manufacturer proclaims, they are easy to digest and there's no fishy burp-back."  louiegirl53

"These have no fishy aftertaste or anything!!! I also like the fact that they are small and I only have to take 3/day!!! The price was great too."  TKat3178

"I don't normally burp, but regular fish soft capsules cause me to do just that, and I hate fish so it's particularly nasty. I've been taking Fisol regularly now for probably close to two weeks, and have had zero occurrences of this unpleasantness. I'm pleased!"  cmusa

"This Fish Oil Omega 3 supplament is easier to swallow than most, has no odor, and no unpleasant after effects of "fish burps". It has a high content of EPA and DHA also so I take fewer than I was with the Omega 3 supplament I was taking before. I highly recommend it!"  artemis

Super Fisol Fish OilWhy Take Fish Oil?

Fish oil pills are among the most popular dietary supplements, ranking right up there with multivitamins and probiotics. They’re routinely included on “Best of” lists, such as our 7 Basic Supplements for Good Health, because they deliver DHA and EPA, two important essential fatty acids (EFAs).

Omega-3 EFAs provide natural support for a wide range of key body functions. As a result, fish oil supplements help promote overall cardiovascular health, joint health, infant brain development, cellular defense, skin health and more.

Fisol and Super Fisol Fish Oil supplements are among the best formulas available for maximum EPA and DHA delivery. Plus, Nature’s Way has invested heavily in maintaining a molecular distillation process that ensures toxins, contaminants and heavy metals are removed from the whole fish oil while preserving the omega-3s and other naturally-occurring, healthy compounds.

Nature’s Way chose to use Pollack and Whiting fish for their fish oil source, earning  “eco-certification” because these fish are a more sustainable, “green” resource harvested in North America. They’ve also recently improved their enteric coating process to utilize more naturally-derived ingredients like sodium alginate and coconut oil.

Sound like something you’d be interested in trying? You’re in luck...

5 Reasons To Eat Vegan

Wednesday, February 1, 2012 by Guest Bloggers
Happy Herbivore CookbookEating a plant-based (vegan) diet is the nation's fastest-growing food trend, and for good reason. The more vegan meals we eat, the more benefits we will feel and bestow. Whenever someone asks me why I follow a plant-based diet, I reply, "For my health, my pocketbook, the animals, the environment and humanity."

1. Your Health
Vegan meals have 0 cholesterol (cholesterol only exists in animal products like meat, eggs, fish and dairy, there is no cholesterol in plant foods), which is great news for your heart! Vegan meals also tend to be high in fiber, low in fat and rich in nutrients, vitamins and minerals. The now-famous China Study also showed that eating a plant-based diet can prevent, cure and reverse devastating and life-threatening diseases, like heart disease.

2. Your Wallet
Vegan meals are a bargain! Bean and grains cost a fraction of the price of meat. On average, each of our meals costs $2.50 or less. Even when you shop totally organic, if your grocery cart is only full of vegan fare, you can expect a huge savings. I cut our grocery bill in half when we went vegetarian, and shaved almost another $100/mo off when we took the leap to vegan. We are a family of three adults, and two dogs (on home cooked meals).

3. Our Environment
Eating vegan is the most eco-friendly and sustainable way we can eat.

4. The Animals
The lives and deaths of farm animals are horrifyingly brutal, both physically and psychologically. As a consumer picking up the end product, it's easy to be oblivious rather than conscious.

5. Humanity
If the world went vegetarian, we would erase world hunger overnight. Instead of feeding grains to live stock, we could feed it to the hungry. We would also have plenty of clean water to go around. Once acre of land can produce either 20,000 pounds of potatoes or a measly 165 pounds of meat. Every time you choose a vegan meal, you vote to end hunger.

Every time you can eat a vegan meal, do it—your body will thank you.

3 Steps to a Fa-la-la-la-la Fantastic Holiday!

L-Theanine supplementYikes! Here we sit on the brink of the hectic part of the holiday season. What you choose to do and not do, think and not think is going to affect how much “happy” goes into your Happy Holidays. Here are 3 tips to help you enjoy the season:
  1. Acknowledge that everything doesn’t have to be magazine- or TV-show-perfect. Leave the ornate centerpieces and handmade chocolate coffee cups to the images in the commercials. Accomplish what’s realistic and still enjoyable. Let the rest go. Do not judge the season by elaborate magazine spreads and false expectations.
  2. Just say no. Cookie exchange? No thanks. Run the holiday bazaar? Not this year. Fifty nine houses in one round robin in a night? Decline. Make a list of what is possible, things you really want to say “yes” to and stick to your list.
  3. Take time for the basics. Though this time of year is busy and filled with opportunities to overindulge, don’t forget the day to day basics of taking care of yourself which includes keeping up with your daily exercise & supplement regimen. With all the stress it doesn’t hurt to add in a few extras either! L-Theanine is one such supplement that’s focused on naturally promoting relaxation.
Take control of your holiday season with these 3 tips and most of all, remember to be good to yourself and have FUN!

What You Really Need to Know to Lose Weight

Thursday, December 8, 2011 by Guest Bloggers
CLA-1300 Max Potency Once you have made up your mind to shed those extra pounds the most common question is, "What is the best program?" You'll find shelf after shelf of diet guides, fad diets, and Hollywood stars promoting weight loss secrets. But here are the tried & true things to know about losing weight:

It’s not magic.
Just finding a plan isn’t the answer—it’s the sticking to it that counts. If for a second you question whether or not a program is healthy, chances are it’s not. Focus on getting healthy—not “dieting.”

Support matters.
Weight loss can be tough, and extra support helps. Starting a program with another person can help motivate both of you to stick to the program. However, even if you don’t have someone who can start WITH you, having someone support you and understand matters.

One pound per week IS enough.
It took time to put those pounds on, it will take time to get them off. Don’t be discouraged if you hear of people losing multiple pounds a week while you are not—1 per week IS enough!

Exercise isn’t optional (but it also doesn’t mean hours drenched in sweat!)
If a diet promises that you will lose weight without exercising, save your money and buy a gym membership. Healthy meals and regular exercise are the keys to achieving your goals. But that doesn’t mean you must be drenched in sweat daily. Walking is a fine form of exercise and it’s the extra fitness that counts.

Weight loss isn’t about dieting.
This is a change in the way you eat and approach food. A diet is something you "go off of" for a few days, for the holidays, or because you're feeling blue. Don't think of it that way. And, if you happen to have a not-so-healthy snack, just get back into your healthy habits again right away. There's no reason to lose sleep over eating one cookie, but make your love of good, health-promoting foods a daily habit, not a hobby.
