Alvita Rose Hips tea makes a delicate, fruity beverage. Rose Hips (Rosa canina), the fruit of the rose after the flower has bloomed and the petals have fallen, are native to Europe and North America. Rose Hips were once referred to as the "Food of the Gods" by the ancient Greeks and used for their varied health benefits. During World War II, when faced with a serious shortage of fresh fruits and the subsequent shortage of vitamin C, the governments of England, Sweden and Norway began looking to botanicals as a source for Vitamin C. After testing, they discovered that Rose Hips contained an astonishing amount of Vitamin C. Rose Hips are still used today as a favorite nutritious food.

Rose Hip Tea Generally I don't take the time to review things online, but I definitely wanted to do this one. This rose hip tea is quite delicious, and we drink it every day. It has a good flavor, and doesn't seem harsh like the green tea that I was drinking previously. I let it steep until it is cool enough to drink right down, and the liquid seems to have a softness that is very pleasant, also. There is no bitterness. Years ago I read that rose hip tea can have more vitamin C in it than orange juice, and that several of the northern European countries made great use of it to keep people healthy during WWII. [Rose hips were also made into soup or jelly.] I suspect that the level of vitamins would be dependent on the particular hips that were harvested, and the method of steeping. I'm guessing that it would be difficult for the company to put the vitamin content on the package due to those variables. Suffice to say that this is really good stuff, and presumably a very healthy beverage. Skal! January 15, 2014
Pleasant and healthy tea.i love it as a good source of Vit C and just for its pleasant taste. I gave 4 star only because tea bags are paired and you gave to use scissors to separate the bags.i guess if they were individually wrapped in a foil the price would be much higher. December 1, 2013
Love it I love the taste of the Rose Hips tea. The price is always right at Swanson Vitamins. Love the fact that it is really high in vitamin C but don't especially like the tear apart bags. April 2, 2013
Great Herbal Tea I love the subtle flavor that is soothing and aromatic. I originally used this to keep my digestion regular and it certainly helps in a very subtle effective manner. Great product! Great price too! March 25, 2013
Rose hips - immune system boost The product is of good quality and great convenience, but I prefer tea made of whole rose hips March 19, 2013
