Alvita Pau D'Arco Tea is known for its beneficial properties. Pau D'Arco (Tabebuia impetiginosa) is a hardy, deciduous tree that is able to withstand severe winds and weather. Pau D'Arco trees are found extensively throughout South America, Central America, Mexico and the Bahamas where it is frequently known as "Taheebo." The herb is harvested by peeling the bark from the tree in vertical strips from the ground up to the height of a man. Only the inner bark is used for beneficial purposes and must be carefully separated from the outer bark. Its purple inner bark was used by the Incas, who referred to it as "The Divine Tree."

Ingredients: Pau D'Arco Inner Bark

Directions: The best way to make a good cup of tea is by the infusion method. Place one tea bag in a cup and add no more than 6 oz. of boiling water. Let steep for 3 minutes. Press the bag before removing to enhance the flavor. Add honey to sweeten.

Love this tea! Pau D'Arco Tea is hard to find in the stores and when I do find it, it's very expensive. I always stock up on this when I make my Swanson's orders because I don't want to be without it. March 16, 2012
Tea lover approves Alvita makes high quality tea. The first time I tried this one I didn't like it , but on the second try I did and now I've been drinking at least a cup every day. The directions say add no more than 6 oz. of water, but I find that is too strong for me. I make it with about 10 oz. I love the bags with no strings and tags that fall into the mug. Pau d'Arco seems to be very beneficial to my health, although due to regulations I can't say what I'm using it for. I'd like to try more varieties of this brand. February 20, 2010
