Made from the berries of the Hawthorn tree, Alvita Hawthorn Berries Tea is consumed for its health properties. Native to the Mediterranean region, including North Africa and all of Europe and central Asia, hawthorn can now be found in many areas of North America. According to Christian legend, the Crown of Thorns was believed to be made of hawthorn. Therefore the herb was thought to possess miraculous properties. In ancient Greece, hawthorn was a symbol of hope and happiness, while in Rome it was considered a potent charm. Both ancient and modern herbalists have successfully used hawthorn for its food and health benefits.

Ingredients: Hawthorn Berries

Directions: The best way to make a good cup of tea is by the infusion method. Place one tea bag in a cup and add no more than 6 oz. of boiling water. Let steep for 3 minutes. Press the bag before removing to enhance the flavor. Add honey to sweeten.

Herb tea This is not like real tea and it can not be real tea. It has no black tea or spices in it's ingredients. My russian grandmother used a lot of herbs in her meals and she preferred only herb teas. I remember drinking herb teas more than black tea in my childhood. I know the taste of real hawthorn berries tea. I can say this tea is closest version to that one I know. It has no artificial taste. I'm ordering this tea today. February 7, 2012
