What you expect
Kind of silly when reviewers eat this product and expect CANDY. As found in nature cocoa beans are indeed bitter. This product is fermented, either on purpose or incidentally, and that is a strong taste one must accept, in addition to "bitter". There's also a slight crudeness to the texture. But I pop a few nibs in the maw, and a few raisins and it's great that way. Soon I'll be mixing up a healthy candy bar: nibs, coconut butter, raisins, and raw nuts, maybe pistachios. No sugar, no agave. Long live nibs!

organic raw cacao nibs
easy to add to smoothies as well as baked items- has slighly bitter/nutty flavor if eaten alone.

Cacao...not chocolate
I was disappointed to see poor reviews for this product, that was until I read them. These nibs are straight cacao, which is not naturally sweet. If that's what you are looking for then you would be better served with a candy bar.
These Nibs are wonderful for those of us looking for the benefits it provides without the processing and sugar used in so much of what is available on the market.
For a real treat add a handful when blending your favorite smoothie. YUM!

excellent product
This is a superb product, but if you've never tried raw cacao before, you may be surprised by the bitterness. I personally love the taste, not as bitter as coffee beans. I put them in a healthy rice pudding recipe I make in the crock pot. They don't melt and keep their solid texture if heated. I order them regularly...always have them on hand!

Not edible
I was so excited when I discovered these cacao nibs on Swanson's website. I read all the other reviews and decided that I'd give these a try despite other reviewers stating that these nibs were bitter. I should have listened!!! I'm not sure if it's Swanson's brand that's bitter or whether all raw cacao nibs are extremely bitter. In any case, I'm definitely returning these 2 bags of Swanson raw cacao nibs and will never try any other brand of cacao nibs ever again!

Not for all palates
For me these are great for people who want to control the sugar. I like sugar but less than most people. The key thing is I can control by adding sugar, and most chocolates have too much. These nibs are bitter, but I like strong tastes (e.g., garlic stuffed olives marinated in hot pepper, feta cheese, etc.). I add the nibs to Stonyfield organic vanilla yogurt (which has some sweetening) and it provides an excellent counterpoint. Or I put them on breakfast cereals and add a few pinches of non-refined sugar. Perhaps my evaluation is partly my rebellion against someone else controlling the sugar.

NO sugar. Tastes good to me.
What is great about this cocoa is that it contains NO sugar. The taste is a little bitter but I like it. The nibs are a little small and hard to grab, so I just wish they made them a little bigger in size. Other than that I think this makes a great replacement for sugar-based chocolate, which is really more candy than a health food.

YUCK! Very bitter!
I read the reviews and since I LOVE dark chocloate, I thought I wouod try these. BIG mistake. They are extrememly bitter - RAW, just as the name implies, I should have known better. I love 75% dark, can tolerate even 85% dark, but not RAW cocoa. Sending this back, gotta love the Swanson's 7 leaf guarantee!

Delicious!!
Best cacao nibs I have tried. They taste fresh and delicious!! I prefer them over Navitas brand and plan to buy Swanson's cacao nibs in the future. I love them on my morning waffle topped with Greek Yogurt, strawberry puree, walnuts and cocoa nibs!! They are also delicious on ice cream.

Nibs
I must admit i didn't know what to expect; I thought this would be somewhat edible alone however I could not palate them. We have discovered that mixed with our coffee beans in the grinder they help the coffee stretch and make it taste good.
