"There are several different type of Milk Thistle on the market, but I choosed this one, based on my previous experience with Swanson products. As I expected, this is a good product that combines high quality with resonable price. It's effectivenes is slow,but safe & inevitable, as it is with most herbal supplements. "Swanson's Premium Full Spectrum Milk Thistle has improved my liver's detoxifying strength and my body's health overall in a pleasantly graceful way. I needed to strengthen and assist my liver in the detoxifying mode, so I chose the Premium Full Spectrum Milk Thistle because I wanted to utilize a single renowned herb to cleanse my body via my liver. Most liver detoxifying formulas have several herbs in which, from my experience in the past, had too strong of an effect on my liver and caused a somewhat drained effect upon my body energy levels. However, the Swanson Premium Full Spectrum Milk Thistle has been a milder yet effective supplemental herb to detoxify my liver and cleanse my body, while allowing my energy levels to remain normal most of the time. My health status is in a mostly good state and I have gone through over 10 years of cleansing and detoxifying."

"Milk thistle has long been known to be an effective liver tonic. In fact, some studies have shown that the active ingredient in milk thistle shows an improvement in at least one of the measures of liver function, such as aminotransferases, albumin, and/or malondialdehyde.

As far as effectiveness, it is difficult to tell of this supplement is effective unless you get before and after blood work designed to quantify liver function. On the less scientific side, I have been taking milk thistle for a years, and I consider it a good maintenance measure against liver damage from alcohol usage, chemical exposure or whatever else might ail the liver.

I personally believe that a standardized milk thistle exytact with at least 80% silymarin is a slightly more effective product than the full spectrum line."
