Good source of type II collagen
This is a good source of type II chicken collagen, and it does contain what it says it does. Not all type II collagen does. Some other companies have substituted cheaper, and potentially useless type I & 3 beef gelatin when they claim to be selling type II chicken collagen. These products have different uses. Chicken collagen has smaller particles, is beige, smells and tastes like chicken soup and musk. When mixed with water and allowed to stand, it only partially gels. Most beef gelatin is white, has larger particles (like kitchen gelatin, which is basically is), is often pretty odorless and tasteless, and when mixed with water and allowed to stand, will gel solid. So now you know.
There are three manufacturers of chicken collagen that I am familiar with, Neocell, where Swanson's gets the material for this supplement, another manufacturer which makes a hydrolyzed version which I do not like. That is all over the place under different band names. And another company makes something they call UC II collagen which has the naturally occurring hyluronic acid and glucosamine removed. I personally found that to be useless. For me this is the best form of chicken based type II collagen.
There is a small mail order company that gets their "type II" collagen from China. I believe that it is mixed with beef collagen. Watch out.
Although sold in gel caps, I feel this is best absorbed mixed with water, taken with vitamin C. I take the entire contents of the bottle, dump it into a clean pickle jar, and fill it with water. I leave it out at room temperature for about eight hours, stirring occasionally with chopsticks. Then I keep it in the frig. I take it with vitamin C on an empty stomach and wait at least twenty minutes to eat.
If you are taking this you might also consider MSM. I also like to take this dissolved in water on an empty stomach with vitamin C, but there is no need to dissolve it for eight hours. A few minutes will do. I use plain powder. I take it separately from the collagen and wait twenty minutes to eat or take more vitamins.
We now throw away about half the animals we eat. Native peoples and traditional cultures all over the world ate the whole animal, including collagen. We tend to have more troubles with the parts of our bodies what we throw away in food animals, but less so with muscles, which we eat. Many native cultures prize parts of animals which are rich in collagen.

Chicken Collagen
Most collagen supplements are made of bovine collage, which I am allergic to. So I was happy to find this one made from chicken. Thanks!

Great Joint Health Supplement
Chicken Collagen has produced some amazing results in recent studies. A client that had been taking glucosamine and chondroitin with good results, started taking this instead and received even greater benefits. The only complaint was having to take it on an empty stomach.

good stuff
I tried Swanson's more expensive Collagen; I like this stuff much better. It's more effective than the other; it's cheaper; there are more pills in the bottle. This stuff really works.

Chicken Collagen Type II
This collagen type is not always available in local stores, so buying it through Swanson is very convenient: it saves on gas, my order arrives promptly, and the product is always fresh. This is one supplement I would not want to be without. Highly recommended.
