"I don't feel comfortable taking packaged supplements as many contain fillers and binders or at least magnesium stearate, which has the only function as a lubricant for packing machines to speed up the production (all for money). It has no benefit for your health, some say it creates a biofilm in the intestines to hinder absorption of nutrients.
That's why I look for powder supplements with no additives and this vitamin C is quite good. If my stomach protests from a large dose, I can use baking powder to compensate.
I use some honey or sweetener (stevia, xylitol, NOT aspartame or like) and drink it as a lemonade.
I also liked Vitamin C with rosehips but it has some additional taste from rosehips that some may not like (don't be alarmed, it's not that bad :-)."

"My immune system functions much better when I take a lot of vitamin C spaced throughout the day... but I don't like ingesting a lot of fillers and capsules, or paying for that many pills. The vitamin C powder is the ideal solution. It has a sour taste, which I don't mind. (I have also put a pinch of stevia in there to take the edge off - tastes like lemonade! <g>) If I feel the acidity may bother my stomach, I buffer it with a little baking soda or calcium carbonate (1/8 tsp. or less to 1/2 tsp. of vitamin C).

One caution - keep the lid very tight or it may oxidize (turn brown) and spoil, especially in humid weather. I prevent this by adding some dessicant packets saved from other supplements, and by keeping a smaller jar on my counter for daily use rather than opening the "tub" each time."

"For years I've been using vitamin C powder in nearly all my recipes to detoxify mold that may be present in flour, pasta, cooked cereals, nuts and nut butters, etc. Add 1/4 tsp to water for pasta, 1/2 tsp to a jar of nut butter, 1/2 tsp to a loaf of homemade bread, etc. Not only does it help detoxify mold, it gives you additional vitamin C to boot. (Don't use in milk, it will curdle.) I wouldn't be without this product, and Swanson has the very best price anywhere!"
