This naturally occurring amino alcohol is produced in minuscule amounts by the brain, with higher concentrations being typically found in anchovies and sardines. Known primarily as a precursor to choline and acetylcholine (chemicals in the brain responsible for nerve transmissions and cognitive function), DMAE has been used most predominantly to improve memory and focus while stimulating neural activity.

Clear Brain Fog for us Professional Gen Xers Simply put, my work/profession is very demanding on my brain. Now that I'm in my early 40s I notice I do have brain-fog days, which I just cannot have to be competitive. Taking one tablet gives me back my clear-minded brain within the hour. I've used DMAE regularly for the last two years, and it is wonderful. I've tried dozens of different herbal brain formulas and other herbs, aminos, etc. and none of them give me the clarity of mind that plain DMAE does. I really like the NOW Foods brand. I have celiac sprue and have a sensitive stomach, and I have never had any problems with taking the NOW Foods products (of course, I always select items that do not have glutens). A few vitamin brands tend to make my stomach queasy, and NOW never does that to me. February 23, 2011
